The Bangladesh Project
Following the 1971 war that established Bangladesh's independence and, with it, growing pains - famines, poverty, natural disasters, disease.... - Saidpur Enterprises began as a project to help the mothers of the malnourished children with employment producing jute handicrafts while Apolis gave them access to the global market. Together, they provide fair trade wages, literacy classes, training on nutrition, women's legal rights, and educational awareness and finance.
Jute is a natural resource indigenous to the area, so purchasing an Apolis Market helps rebuild local economies and create opportunities for the whole supply chain - farmer to artisan.
